師齊次問僧：「應是從前叢林學得底言語總拈却，爾道我飯作麼生滋味？」代云：「菜裏少鹽醋。」

During a meal, the master asked a monk, "Putting aside all the words you have learned in the monasteries until now, tell me: what is the taste of my rice?" Answering on their behalf, he said, "In the greens there is little salt and vinegar."
