師在嶺中時，問一老宿：「一切時中如何辨明？」老宿云：「喚什麼作一切時中？」師云：「釋迦老子道了也，彌勒猶自不知。」又見一老宿上堂云：「若是商量舉覺，如當門利劍相似，一句下須有殺活始得。」師出眾云：「和尚上堂多時，大眾歸堂。」老宿云：「道什麼？」師云：「日月易流。」

When the Master was in the mountain ranges, he asked a senior monk, "At all times, how does one distinguish and clarify?" The senior monk said, "What do you call 'at all times'?" The Master said, "Old Śākya has already spoken of it, yet Maitreya still does not know." He also saw a senior monk ascend the hall and say, "If it is deliberation and raising the matter, it is just like a sharp sword blocking the gate; under a single phrase, there must be both killing and giving life!" The Master came out from the assembly and said, "The upādhyāya has been in the hall for a long time; let the great assembly return to the hall." The senior monk said, "What are you saying?" The Master said, "Sun and moon flow easily away."
