靈隱清聳禪師，福州人，初參師，師指雨謂云：「滴滴落在上座眼裏。」清聳初不喻旨，後因閱《華嚴》感悟，承師印可。

Chan Master Lingyin Qingsong was a man of Fuzhou. When he first visited the Master for instruction, the Master pointed to the rain and said to him, "Drop by drop falls right into the sthavira's eyes." Qingsong did not understand the import at first, but later, while reading the Huayan [Sūtra], he had an awakening and received the Master's seal of approval.
