上堂云：「夫大道之源，言詮罔及，祖印相傳，迷情豈測？當臺秦鑑，好醜俱分，鴨類鵝王，水乳自辨。如今還有辨得底麼？拈出來看。」

Ascending the hall, the Master said: "Now, the source of the Great Way cannot be reached by verbal explanation; how could deluded sentiments fathom the transmission of the ancestral seal? When the Qin mirror is on the stand, the beautiful and ugly are both distinguished; like the king of geese among ducks, water and milk naturally separate. Is there anyone today who can distinguish it? Bring it forth and let us see."
