曹山問僧：「甚處來？」云：「掃地來。」云：「佛前掃？佛後掃？」云：「前後一時掃。」山云：「與老僧過袈裟來。」

Caoshan asked a monk, "Where have you come from?"
He said, "I have come from sweeping the ground."
[Caoshan] said, "Did you sweep in front of the Buddha, or sweep behind the Buddha?"
He said, "I swept in front and behind at the same time."
Caoshan said, "Bring this old monk his kāṣāya robe."
