僧問石霜：「咫尺之間，為什麼不覩師顏？」霜云：「我道遍界不曾藏。」僧復問雪峰：「遍界不曾藏，意旨如何？」峰云：「什麼處不是石霜？」後玄沙云：「雪峯老子，蹉過石霜。」

A monk asked Shishuang, "Being just inches apart, why do I not behold the Master's face?"
Shishuang said, "I say that throughout the entire realm, it has never been hidden."
The monk again asked Xuefeng, "'Throughout the entire realm, it has never been hidden'—what is the meaning of this?"
Xuefeng said, "Where is it not Shishuang?"
Later, Xuansha said, "Old man Xuefeng missed Shishuang."
