白兆舉：「紫胡有犬，上取人頭，中取人心，下取人腰。」僧問：「如何是白兆犬。」師云：「不作聲。」僧便喝，師便打云：「向道不作聲。」

Baizhao cited: "Zihu had a dog: above, it seized people's heads; in the middle, it seized people's hearts; below, it seized people's waists."
A monk asked, "What is Baizhao's dog?"
The Master said, "It makes no sound."
The monk gave a shout. The Master struck him immediately, saying, "I told you it makes no sound!"
