僧問南泉：「和尚百年後，向什麼處去？」泉云：「向山下檀越家，作一頭水牯牛去。」云：「某甲隨和尚去得也無？」泉云：「爾若來，銜取一枝草來。」

A monk asked Nanquan, "Where will the Venerable go a hundred years from now?"
Nanquan said, "I will go to the donor's house down the mountain and become a water buffalo."
[The monk] asked, "Can I follow the Venerable and go there?"
Nanquan said, "If you come, bring a blade of grass in your mouth."
