雪峯示眾云：「望州亭與爾相見了也，烏石嶺與爾相見了也，僧堂前與爾相見了也。」保福問鵝湖：「僧堂前且置，望州亭、烏石嶺甚麼處相見？」鵝湖䠫步歸方丈，保福便入僧堂。

Xuefeng instructed the assembly, saying, "At the Wangzhou Pavilion I have already met with you; at the Wushi Ridge I have already met with you; before the Monks' Hall I have already met with you." Baofu asked Ehu, "Setting aside for a moment 'before the Monks' Hall,' at what place were the meetings at Wangzhou Pavilion and Wushi Ridge?" Ehu took brisk steps and returned to the Abbot's quarters; Baofu then entered the Monks' Hall.
