溈山與仰山行次，鵶衘一紅柿落，仰山捧上溈山，溈云：「甚處得來？」仰云：「是和尚道德所感。」溈云：「子也不得空然。」遂分一半。

While Guishan and Yangshan were walking together, a crow carrying a red persimmon dropped it. Yangshan picked it up and offered it to Guishan. Guishan said, "Where did you get this?" Yangshan said, "It was moved by the Master's virtue and the Way." Guishan said, "You too should not come away empty-handed," and thereupon divided it in half.
