能師密印付觀音，百丈親傳馬祖心，黃檗大張臨際喝，三聖大覺解參尋，興化流津通汝海，寶應曾窮風穴深，首山一脈西河注，六七宗師四海欽。師子金毛牙爪備，嚬呻震奮象穿林，群狐併蹤狐蹤絕，眾類潛形類不侵。唯有五湖真大士，遠方來湊競投針，橫笻掛錫挑燈手，不過茅刀豈得金。為報水雲參道者，直須英俊勿沈吟，一般採藥求真藥，莫將薺苨作仁蔘，真印真得親傳軌則，千萬人中一兩人克。

Master Neng's secret seal was entrusted to Avalokiteśvara; / Baizhang personally received Mazu's mind. / Huangbo broadly opened up Linji's shout; / Sansheng and Dajue knew how to participate and inquire. / Xinghua's stream flowed into the Ru River; / Baoying once plumbed the depths of Fengxue. / Shoushan's single stream poured into Xihe; / six or seven ancestral masters are revered across the four seas. / The golden-haired lion possesses complete fangs and claws; / stretching and roaring vigorously, elephants crash through the forest. / Packs of foxes gather their tracks, and the foxes' tracks vanish; / the various species conceal their forms, and no species trespasses. / Only the true great beings of the five lakes / converge from afar, vying to match the needle. / Carrying staff and hanging bowl, hands that trim the lamp— / unless they wield the grass-cutting blade, how could they obtain the gold? / I proclaim to the wayfarers of water and cloud: / you must be brilliant and valiant, not hesitating in thought! / As when gathering herbs one must seek genuine medicine, / do not mistake bastard ginseng for genuine ginseng! / With the true seal truly attained, the rules are directly transmitted; / among thousands and myriads of people, one or two succeed.
