一條青竹杖，操節無比樣，心空裏外通，身直圓成相。渡水作良明，登山堪倚仗，終須撥太虛，卓在高峯上。

A single staff of green bamboo, / Its conduct and joints without equal. / Empty inside, unobstructed within and without, / Its body upright, complete in appearance. / Crossing waters, it makes a fine companion; / Climbing mountains, it is worthy to lean upon. / In the end it must cast aside the great void, / Standing upright atop the highest peak.
