3.28

或稱提，或拈掇，本色衲僧長擊發，句裏明人事最精，好手還同楔出楔。或擡薦，或垂手，切要心空易開口，不識先人出大悲，管燭之徒照街走（已上是雲門宗派）。

Either putting forward, or picking up; / Genuine patched-robed monks are constantly stimulated. / The person clarified within the phrase is of the finest caliber; / A skilled hand is just like using a wedge to extract a wedge. / Either uplifting, or letting down hands; / The crucial point is that with mind empty, it is easy to open the mouth. / Not recognizing that the predecessors acted out of great compassion, / Those who carry candles run through the streets to shine light.
