Puhua saw a cavalry-infantry commissioner clearing the street with loud shouts. Puhua raised his hands in the middle of the street and said, "Postulant Teng, let's have a wrestling match!" The official shouted angrily, "You make a fool of people!" He then summoned the attendant to strike him with five blows of the staff. Puhua said, "This country bumpkin! It looks like it, but it is not it." The official said, "What do you mean 'is or is not'? Beating you settles it."
