上堂，云：「諸佛出世，假設言詮；祖師西來，不掛唇吻。若也從空放下，三千世界所有塵，一一塵中含法界；若也步步登高，驢鞍橋不是爾阿爺下頷。」以拂子擊禪床，下座。

Ascending the hall, he said: "The buddhas appeared in the world and provisionally established spoken explanations; the ancestral master came from the West and did not hang words on his lips. If you let go from emptiness, among all the dust motes in the three-thousandfold world, each and every dust mote contains the dharmadhātu. If you ascend higher step by step, the bridge of a donkey's saddle is not your daddy's lower jaw." Striking the Chan seat with the fly-whisk, he descended from the seat.
