指驢又無尾，喚牛又無角，進前不移步，退後豈收脚？
無言不同佛，有語誰斟酌，巧拙常現前，勞君安寫邈。

Point to it as a donkey, yet it has no tail; / Call it an ox, yet it has no horns. / Advancing forward, it does not move a step; / Retreating backward, how could it withdraw its feet? / Without speech, it is no different from a buddha; / With words, who can deliberate it? / Skill and clumsiness are ever present before us; / What trouble to put you through to sketch it!
