上堂，舉：「教中道：『若謂如來有所說法，即為謗佛。』只如一大藏教，甚處得來？若言無說，五千四十八卷什麼處消遣？到者裏須是箇人始得。還會麼？莫謗四面好。」

Ascending the hall, [the Master] cited: "In the teachings it says: 'If one says that the Tathāgata has preached any Dharma, one slanders the Buddha.' But as for the great canon of teachings, where does it come from? If one says there was no preaching, where can the five thousand and forty-eight rolls be disposed of? When reaching here, one must be the right person before one can manage it. Do you understand? It would be best not to slander Simian."
