上堂云：「適來思量得一則因緣，而今早忘了也，却是拄杖記得。」乃拈起拄杖云：「拄杖子也忘了。」遂卓一下云：「同坑無異土。咄！」

Ascending the hall, he said: "Just now I thought of a case, but now I have already forgotten it; yet my staff remembers." He then held up his staff and said, "The staff has forgotten it too." He then struck it once and said, "In the same pit there is no different earth. Bah!"
