上堂云：「達磨無端少林面壁，二祖斷臂一生受屈，黃蘗樹頭討甚木蜜，太平今日兩眼如漆，李廣神箭是誰中的。」

Ascending the hall, he said: "Bodhidharma without reason faced the wall at Shaolin; the Second Patriarch severed his arm and endured grievance all his life; what hovenia dulcis fruit can be sought from the crown of a Huangbo tree? Today Taiping's two eyes are like pitch. Who has Li Guang's divine arrow hit in the bullseye?"
