上堂，僧問：「如何是賓中賓？」師云：「少喜多瞋。」學云：「如何是賓中主？」師云：「傳言送語。」學云：「如何是主中賓？」師云：「鍾馗小妹。」學云：「如何是主中主？」師云：「一言纔出口，地上繡絪開。」乃云：「近日太平院，禪和多聚散，參底老婆禪，喫底籼米飯。知事失照顧，主人少方便，雖然沒滋味，要且緩緩嚥。」

Ascending the hall, a monk asked, "What is the guest within the guest?" The Master said, "Little joy, much anger." The student said, "What is the host within the guest?" The Master said, "Passing messages and carrying words." The student said, "What is the guest within the host?" The Master said, "Zhong Kui's younger sister." The student said, "What is the host within the host?" The Master said, "As soon as a single word leaves the mouth, the embroidered mat unrolls upon the ground." He then said, "Lately at Taiping Monastery, Chan practitioners gather and scatter in large numbers; what they investigate is old woman Chan, what they eat is non-glutinous rice. The duty administrators fail to take care of them, and the host lacks skillful means; although there is no flavor, you must swallow it slowly."
