1.63

上堂，舉：「三祖見二祖，禮拜問曰：『請師懺罪。』二祖云：『將罪來與汝懺。』三祖云：『求罪不可得。』二祖云：『與汝懺罪竟。』因成一頌，舉似大眾：無孔笛子㲲拍板，五音六律皆普遍，時人不識黃幡綽，笑道儂家登寶殿。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "The Third Patriarch met the Second Patriarch, bowed, and asked, 'I pray the master will repent my sins.' The Second Patriarch said, 'Bring your sins here and I will repent them for you.' The Third Patriarch said, 'Searching for sins, they cannot be found.' The Second Patriarch said, 'I have finished repenting your sins for you.' Therefore, I compose a verse to present to the assembly: A holeless flute and fine woolen clappers; / The five tones and six pitches are all pervasive. / People of the time do not recognize Huang Fanchuo; / Laughing, they say our family has ascended the jewel palace."
