1.86

上堂云：「永嘉道：『取不得，捨不得，不可得中只麼得。』祖師道：『不是心，不是物，不是佛。』大眾且道，是箇什麼？」乃云：「到江吳地盡，隔岸越山多。」

Ascending the hall, he said, "Yongjia said, 'It cannot be grasped, it cannot be rejected; within the ungraspable it is obtained just so.' The Patriarch said, 'It is not mind, it is not a thing, it is not Buddha.' Assembly, tell me, what is it?" He then said, "Reaching the river, the land of Wu ends; / Across the shore, the mountains of Yue are many."
