上堂，舉：「靈雲悟桃花頌云：『三十年來尋劍客，幾經葉落又抽枝，自從一見桃花後，直至如今更不疑。』玄沙云：『諦當甚諦當，敢保老兄未徹在。』」師云：「說什麼諦當，更參三十年始得。」

Ascending the hall, he cited: "Lingyun's verse on awakening upon seeing peach blossoms says: / 'For thirty years I sought a swordsman, / How many times have leaves fallen and branches sprouted again? / Ever since I once saw the peach blossoms, / Right up to now I have doubted no more.' / Xuansha said, 'Extremely accurate, it certainly is accurate, yet I dare say the elder brother has not completely penetrated it.'" The Master said, "What talk of 'accurate'? He must investigate for another thirty years before he gets it."
