謝典座上堂云：「白雲嵌枯，老漢要喫，無皮餕餡，典座取巧安排，一任眾人𠯗噉。」良久云：「羊羹雖美，眾口難調。」

Expressing thanks to the director of meals, he ascended the hall and said: "Baiyun's crags are dry and withered; this old fellow wants to eat skinless dumplings. The director of meals has skillfully arranged them, leaving everyone to bite and chew as they please." After a long pause, he said, "Though the mutton broth is delicious, it is hard to please every palate."
