2.88

上堂云：「若要天下橫行，見老和尚打鼓升堂，七十三八十四，將拄杖驀口便築。然雖如是，拈却門前上馬臺，剪斷五色索，方始得安樂。」

Ascending the hall, he said, "If you wish to walk unhindered throughout the world, when you see the old Upādhyāya beat the drum and ascend the hall, whether he is seventy-three or eighty-four, take a staff and thrust it right into his mouth. Even though it is so, only when you remove the mounting block in front of the gate and cut through the five-coloured cord will you attain peace and joy."
