上堂云：「趙州道箇柏樹子，廬陵隨後雪白米，中間有箇白蓮峯，一口吸盡西江水。喜美囉邏哩囉邏哩，我自我，儞自儞，深村有箇白額蟲，吒腮鬣頷九條尾。」良久云：「咦！好怕人。」

Ascending the hall, the Master said: “Zhaozhou spoke of the cypress tree, / Luling followed with snow-white rice. / In the middle there is White Lotus Peak, / Swallowing the waters of West River in a single gulp. / Xi-mei-luo-luo-li-luo-luo-li! / I am myself, you are yourself. / In the deep village there is a white-browed bug, / With puffing cheeks, bristling whiskers, and nine tails.” After a long pause, he said: “Bah! How terrifying.”
