That evening, at an informal gathering, he said, "One is three, three is seven: / The privet flowers beside the sheep-grazing embankment, / The husband-watching stone beside the Juma River. / A stone strikes a foot rule red; / Drawing an earth winnowing basket, / Letting eyes stare in dull bewilderment." He further said, "Thirty years in the Huai marshes, / Today I become the old Huangmei. / Better to speak clearly, / Letting ducks listen to thunder." Entering the monastery, he burned incense at the Ancestor's pagoda, pointed with his finger, and said, "Having gone away with your whole body like that at that time, / Coming back today, do you remember or not?" He further said, "What serves as proof? This serves as proof." Thereupon he made prostrations.
