上堂云：「古人道：譬如擲劍揮空，莫論及之不及。斯乃空輪絕跡，劍刃非虧。好諸禪德，若能如是，心心無知，即是踞妙峯孤頂，非但善財七日不逢，設使文殊百劫親來，也摸𢱢不著。」

Ascending the hall, he said: "The ancients said: 'It is like throwing a sword and cleaving the sky—do not speak of reaching or not reaching.' In this, traces are cut off in the sphere of space, and the sword edge suffers no loss. Fine Chan worthies, if you can be like this, thought-moment after thought-moment without knowing, then you will be perched atop the solitary summit of Wonderful Peak. Not only would Sudhana fail to meet [you] for seven days, but even if Mañjuśrī were to come in person for a hundred kalpas, he too could not lay a hand on you."
