傅大士云：「夜夜抱佛眠，朝朝還共起，起坐鎮相隨，如身影相似，要識佛去處，只者語聲是。」玄沙云：「大小傅大士，只認得箇昭昭靈靈。」師拈云：「玄沙也是打草蛇驚。」

Mahāsattva Fu said: / 'Night after night, embracing the Buddha to sleep; / Morning after morning, rising together again. / Rising and sitting, constantly accompanying each other, / Just like a body and its shadow. / If you wish to know where the Buddha goes, / Just this sound of speaking is it.' / Xuansha said: 'Big or small, Mahāsattva Fu only recognized that which is lucid and luminous.' The Master commented: "Xuansha was also beating the grass and startling the snake."
