1.88

上堂云：「布袋裏盛錐子，不出頭是好手。」復云：「大眾！雪竇錐頭出也，莫有傍不肯底禪客出來。」良久云：「諸人既乃縮頭，且聽諸方檢責。」

Ascending the hall, he said, "Keeping an awl in a cloth bag, not poking its tip out is the skilled hand." He further said, "Great assembly! Xuedou's awl-point has poked out; is there any Chan traveler who stands aside disapproving to come forth?" After a long while, he said, "Since you people have pulled in your heads, just listen to the various quarters examine and reprimand you."
