2.59

上堂云：「日日日東上，日日日西沒，循環三百六十，幾箇解知窠窟？放開精精冥冥，把定恍恍惚惚，君不見毘耶離城，彼上人一室，寥寥是何物？」師召大眾云：「高著眼。」便下座。

Ascending the hall, the Master said, “Day after day, the sun rises in the east; day after day, the sun sets in the west. Cycling through three hundred and sixty [days], how many understand the nest and den? Open it up, and it is subtle and dark; hold it fast, and it is fleeting and indistinct. Have you not seen: in the city of Vaiśālī, that superior man’s single room—utterly deserted, what thing is it?” The Master called to the great assembly, “Raise your eyes high!” Then he stepped down from the seat.
