上堂云：「似地擎山，不知山之孤峻；如石含玉，不知玉之無瑕。晝行三千，夜行八百，是我尋常用底，拈放一邊。爾諸人向甚處見盤山？速道速道。」

Ascending the hall, he said: "Like the earth holding up the mountains, unaware of the mountains' solitary steepness; like a stone enclosing jade, unaware of the jade's lack of flaws. Walking three thousand [li] by day and eight hundred by night is my customary practice—set that aside. Where do you all see Panshan? Speak quickly, speak quickly!"
