3.100

舉：「投子問巨榮禪客：『老僧未曾有一言半句挂諸方耳目，何用要見山僧？』僧云：『到者裏不施三拜，要且不甘。』子云：『出家兒得恁麼沒碑記。』僧繞禪床一匝而出，子云：『有眼無耳朵。六月火邊坐。』」師云：「也不得放過，纔轉便與擒住便喝，是誰不甘？若跳得出，不妨是一員衲僧。」

He cited: "Touzi asked the Chan guest Jurong, 'This old monk has never had a single word or half a phrase hanging on the ears or eyes of the various quarters. What need is there to see this mountain monk?' The monk said, 'Coming here without making three prostrations, I would never be satisfied.' Touzi said, 'A renunciant can be so utterly lacking in monument and record.' The monk walked around the meditation platform once and went out. Touzi said, 'Having eyes but no ears; sitting by the fire in the sixth month.'" The Master said, "He also should not have been let off. The moment he turned around, [Touzi] should have seized him and shouted: 'Who is not satisfied?' If he could leap out, he would indeed be a patch-robed monk."
