3.21

舉：「保福簽瓜次，太原孚上座到來，福云：『道得與爾瓜喫。』孚云：『把將來。』福度一片瓜與孚，孚接得便去。」師云：「雖是死蛇，解弄也活。誰是好手者，試請辯看。」

He brought up: "While Baofu was slicing a melon, Head Monk Fu of Taiyuan arrived. Fu said, 'If you can speak, I will give you melon to eat.' Fu said, 'Hand it over.' Baofu handed a slice of melon to Fu; Fu took it and left at once." The Master said, "Although it is a dead snake, if one knows how to play with it, it is alive. Who is a skilled hand? Please try to discern it."
