舉：「雪峯一日普請，自負一束藤，路逢一僧，峯便拋下，僧方擬取，峯便踏倒，歸舉似長生乃云：『我今日踏者僧快。』生云：『和尚替者僧入涅槃堂始得。』峯便休去。」師云：「長生大似東家人死西家助哀，也好與一踏。」

He brought up: "One day during general labor, Xuefeng was carrying a bundle of vines on his back. Meeting a monk on the road, Xuefeng threw it down. Just as the monk was about to pick it up, Xuefeng kicked him over. Returning, he related this to Changsheng and said: 'I kicked that monk briskly today!' Changsheng said: 'The upādhyāya must enter the nirvāṇa hall on that monk's behalf before he will get it.' Xuefeng then dropped the matter." The Master said: "Changsheng was very much like someone mourning at the western house when someone dies at the eastern house; he also deserved a kick."
