3.81

舉：「玄沙問僧：『近離甚處？』云：『瑞巖。』沙云：『瑞巖有何言句？』僧云：『長喚主人翁，自云：「諾。醒醒著，他後莫受人瞞。」』沙云：『一等是弄精魂，甚奇怪却，云何不且在彼中？』僧云：『瑞巖遷化也。』沙云：『如今還喚得應麼？』無對。」師云：「蒼天蒼天。」

[The Master] cited: "Xuansha asked a monk, 'Where have you recently left?' The monk said, 'Ruiyan.' Xuansha said, 'What words does Ruiyan have?' The monk said, 'He constantly calls to the master [of himself], and answers himself, "Yes. Stay awake! In later times, do not be deceived by others."' Xuansha said, 'Though it is just playing with the spirit, it is quite extraordinary. Why did you not stay there for a while?' The monk said, 'Ruiyan has passed away.' Xuansha said, 'If you call him now, will he still respond?' There was no answer." The Master said, "Blue heaven, blue heaven!"
