4.115

僧問雲門：「十方薄伽梵，一路涅槃門，如何是一路涅槃門？」門云：「我道不得。」云：「和尚為什麼道不得？」云：「儞舉話即得。」別云：「淺水無魚，徒勞下釣。」

A monk asked Yunmen, "'The Bhagavats of the ten directions have one single road to the gate of nirvāṇa'—what is the single road to the gate of nirvāṇa?" Yunmen said, "I cannot say." The monk said, "Why can the upādhyāya not say?" Yunmen said, "It is fine for you to bring up the topic." In an alternative [the Master] said, "In shallow water there are no fish; dropping a hook is a waste of effort."
