或云：「生門易過，死門難入，逆順無拘底，為什麼不垂手？」代云：「收得安南，又憂塞北。」

Or he would say: "The gate of life is easy to pass; the gate of death is difficult to enter. Why does one who is unrestrained by contrariety and conformity not extend a helping hand?" Speaking on their behalf, he said: "Having secured Annam, one worries again about the northern frontier."
