4.54

或云：「至道無難，惟嫌揀擇，德山不在，付與黃蘗。」代云：「洗脚上船。」復問僧云：「我恁麼道，正是時人窠窟，趙州直得五年分疎不下，儞何不救取？」僧無語，師云：「雪峯道底。」

Someone said: "'The ultimate Way is without difficulty; it only loathes picking and choosing.' Deshan is not here; entrust it to Huangbo." On [their] behalf he said: "Wash your feet and board the boat." He also asked a monk, saying: "When I speak like this, it is precisely the burrow of people of our time. Zhaozhou was unable to explain it away even for five years; why don't you rescue it?" The monk was silent. The master said: "What Xuefeng said."
