5.56

道之冥機，一何相守，汝競光陰，我親蒲柳。毋厚辨之奪席，
毋薄愚之誦帚，深思彼伐木丁丁之聲，
照古照今兮宜善求友。

The dark functioning of the Way—how one must guard it!
You race against time, while I draw near to the rushes and willows.
Do not value eloquence so much as to seize the mat;
Do not disesteem folly so much as to recite the broom.
Ponder deeply the sound of felling timber, ding-ding;
Illuminating antiquity and the present, you must be good at seeking companions.
