悠悠層山雲，斷兮仍復續，離離雙岸草，變兮且兼綠。
如何苦雪霜，後凋蠧松竹，松竹有節操，
雪霜無伎倆。敢折歲寒枝，贈君作嘉賞，行行天地間，
清風在誰掌。

Drifting, drifting are the layered mountain clouds, / Severed and yet continuing again. / Dense and trailing are the grasses on both banks, / Changing and yet turning green. / Why, amidst bitter snow and frost, / Should the worm-eaten pine and bamboo be the last to wither? / The pine and bamboo have integrity and chastity; / The snow and frost have no clever devices. / I venture to snap a winter-hardy branch, / And present it to you as fine praise. / Journeying on and journeying on between heaven and earth, / In whose palms does the pure wind rest?
