At the Twin Lotus Pavilion I see off a departing guest, / The pure fragrance of lotus blossoms dispersing the autumn hues. / Wilderness inspiration rises with the clouds over severed mountains; / A solitary shadow falls on the clear river, where the moonlight is white. / The rarest sound is perilous and rare—who can comprehend it? / The dynamic of the Great Way persists, never having ceased. / Even if one opens the heavenly constant and stands downwind, / How could one let species mutate amidst blazing streams of fire? / Do you not see: / Liang could not retain him through the whole kingdom, / Leaving thousand-year regrets in vain and boundless expanse? / Do you not also see: / In Wei, the small cassia gave birth to cold emerald; / A single flower blossomed ceaselessly against the snow? / Chan master Wei also rides alongside that connected fragrance; / The star of virtue and the star of literature look up to his untrammelled grace. / Beyond material things, his depth of feeling is no ordinary matter; / Within the circle, his distinct delight is not lightly forsaken. / When you visit each other at leisure, speak to him for my sake: / Counting on your fingers, what more is there to seek?
