1.43

[The Master] cited: "A monk asked Changqing, 'What is the true Dharma eye?' Changqing said, 'Having made a vow not to scatter sand.' Baofu said, 'One must not scatter it any further.'"
The Master said, "A master of our school must certainly meet [others] with the fundamental allotment; he does not dare to scatter sand. Now then, which is the true eye of you all? Let a fellow who is not deceived by others come forward, speak before the assembly, and let us all know and understand together. If you cannot speak, Cuifeng will point it out to you one by one: opening your eyes hits it, closing your eyes hits it."
