When the Master arrived at Wanshou, the assembly requested him to ascend the hall. A monk asked, "With the seven items accompanying my person, I request that we meet." The Master said, "Beat the retreat drum." The monk continued, "Only just crossing swords, already great defeat is seen." The Master said, "Hush." The monk hesitated in thought; the Master then shouted, "What deadly hurry does this fellow have?" A monk asked, "One arrow from Cuifeng has already shot Xuedou; at whom should Xuedou's one arrow be shot?" The Master said, "I do not release the trigger for a field mouse." The monk continued, "Not only have I heard of your fame, today I see you in person." The Master said, "Adding another round of sorrow." The monk bowed; the Master said, "If that is so, then cease." The Master then said, "Everyone under the gate of Wanshou is an adept, for these are the troops of a mighty general. Mighty though they may be, Baofu had a saying: 'A spark struck from stone, a flash of lightning; whether you grasp it or fail to grasp it, you will not avoid losing body and life.' If I were to act according to the decree, then even if everyone throughout the entire region of Sutai had three heads and six arms, once they reached Cuifeng's hands, they would have to disintegrate like tiles and melt like ice. For now, I let one move pass, and turn it over to the Upādhyāya of Wanshou."
