Three hundred years since the Huangmei assembly dispersed, / Continuing the flame and connecting the fragrance are empty matters; / Lineages and branches give rise to heterodoxies; / Blossoms and leaves are overly intricate and fragmented. / Shaoyang arose in between, full of noble fervor; / Powerful and heroic essentials once transcended all duality. / Curved pieces of wood occupying seats—who knows how many? / Cut away by a sharp knife, how delightful to see! / Recently there is another wearing an old patch-robe, / Crossing through the Chu fields, the wind soughing; / Forged of iron, eight feet tall, no ordinary fellow; / Standing like a precipice of thousands of fathoms, he must trample and crush it. / I inform you: south and north of the river, in vain they are encumbered; / The sea-turtle turns and the ocean shifts—minute scales and small shells; / Thunder rushes and lightning speeds—a tiny hair, a fraction of a thread. / Do not say these words retain rules and measures; / The flat is not retained, the perilous is not grasped. / If standing alone in the thoroughfare means one simply rests, / Who will shake the grand guideline to illuminate a thousand ages?
