The colors of spring linger on, draping your wilderness grasses;
The spring wind blows vast and wide, brushing against my window.
Mindful of this parting of ways, I have no fine jade to present:
Petal by petal wildly flutter the plums atop the crags;
Bough by bough freely dance the willows beside the stream.
Chan practitioner Cheng, Chan practitioner Cheng, listen to these words!
In ancient times and now, traveling the road is difficult.
For those who know it, sparks from flint and shooting stars are not yet swift;
For those who know it not, dragon steeds gallop with ease.
Look, look! Who says waves arise on level ground?
