春蘭與秋菊，一一各當時，底處無回互，怨誰分髓皮。風來鳥已覺，露重鶴先知，為問何能爾，渠儂初不知。

Spring orchid and autumn chrysanthemum: / each and every one takes its proper season. / Where is there no mutual interpenetration? / Whom to blame for distinguishing marrow from skin? / When the wind comes, the birds have already sensed it; / when the dew is heavy, the crane knows it first. / If one asks how they can do so: / they did not know it to begin with.
