Ascending the hall, [the master] said, "Blink your eyebrows and you have already missed it; block your eyes and you further form speech, turning increasingly roundabout. Close your mouth! The entire great earth becomes a single dust mote, which the Buddha eye cannot see; the entire Great Canon becomes a single phrase, which a mouth as vast as the ocean cannot express—yet it has not even brought out half of it. What about when you suddenly trample through the conjured city? / Walking to where the waters end, / Sitting to watch when the clouds arise." He stepped down from the seat.
