澧州權郡張朝散，請師就香積院開堂，師於權府手中接得疏，示眾云：「言言錦繡、句句珠璣，讚無上乘、顯正法眼，應須未舉已前薦取，文彩之外承當；苟或未然，却請宣過。」

The acting prefect of Lizhou, Court Gentleman for Consultation Zhang, invited the Master to open the hall at Xiangji Cloister. The Master received the declaration from the hands of the acting prefect, held it up to the assembly, and said, "Every word is brocade, every phrase is a pearl, praising the Supreme Vehicle, revealing the True Dharma Eye. You must discern it before it is raised, and take responsibility outside the literary embellishments. If this is not yet so, then I invite it to be read out loud."
