生平只說聱頭禪，撞著聱頭如鐵壁，脫却羅籠截脚根，大地撮來墨漆黑。晚年轉復沒忉忉，奮金剛鎚碎窠窟，他時要識圓悟面，一為渠儂併拈出。

All his life he spoke only stubborn Chan; / colliding with the stubborn head, it is like an iron wall. / Stripping off the snare and severing the heels, / gathering up the great earth, it is pitch-black. / In his later years he grew even less talkative; / brandishing the vajra hammer, he smashed nest and cave. / If hereafter you wish to recognize Yuanwu's face, / I have once and for all held it out for that person.
